Share market suffers steep losses after Wall St fall ABC Online
The local share market is suffering in the wake of sharp losses on Wall Street and in Europe overnight. The All Ordinaries index had dropped 63 points, or 1.2 per cent, to 5,320 shortly before 1:00pm (AEST). The ASX 200 was down 65 points at 5,317.

The Australian dollar has slumped to a new eight-month low overnight following the New Zealand central bank 'jawboning' its own currency. At 0630 AEST on Friday, the local currency was trading at 87.88 US cents, down from 88.05 cents on Thursday.
